Degenerative disc disease is a term used to describe when lumbar and cervical discs lose their elasticity, flexibility, and/or shock absorbency. This progressive degeneration is a normal process of aging and is one of the most common causes of back and neck pain.

Treatments for degenerative disc disease can include epidural steroid injections, transforaminal epidural steroid injections, spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal pain pumps.
